army clothing and packs?

Posted by admin on September 2nd, 2010 and filed under army clothing | 2 Comments »

what company/brand makes the military clothing and backpacks? im from nz but i don’t think that many people are on this site from nz so if you answer, just make sure to state what country you talking about.
in specific full size tramping backpacks and waterproof jackets, specifically thicker waterproof jackets, eg something you would wear in winter in heavy rain. (or do they just wear warm clothes and a thin rain cover over the top?)

as a side question, im really interested in how the military get around the fact that most waterproof clothing makes alot of noise

thanks
to don – thanks, thats interesting, lowest bidder, obviously they must have certain specifications other wise the quality would be comprimised. and as for the noise made by most waterproof materials. you can’t honestly beleive that a waterproof jacket is no more noisy than any other fabric. you can’t tell me that a gortex jacket for example or any other standard waterproof jacket material is as quiet to move in than for example a fleece jumper

Don’t know about NZ, but it’s probably similar to the way it works here. The military contracts with the lowest bidder to provide X number of uniforms, packs, or whatever. Once they have been delivered, and consumed, the military then offers another contract for bid on the same items. The lowest bidder gets it, so whoever made the items may vary from month to month.

That said, there are any number of companies that sell clothing and equipment to civilians that may or may not be the same company that produced it for the military at one time or another

As far as the noise business – I have not found that to be true. I have not found gore-tex to be any more or less noisy than any other fabric. Also, soldiers are very cognizant of the things that make noise, and take steps to keep noisy equipment silent when necessary. Taping up loose straps, baggy clothing, and dogtags, steps like that.

Sorry – I should have been more specific. In my 20 years of service in the U. S. Army, I have not seen any water resistant fabric THAT IS SUITABLE FOR USE IN MILITARY OUTERWEAR that is any noisier than any non-water resistant fabric which is also suitable for military outerwear. Fleece is not suitable for military outerwear – at least I would never wear it as outerwear.
You may be thinking of a rubberized fabric or nylon – which is indeed noisy. Gore-Tex fabric can be woven which is no more noisy than any other fabric, it looks and feels very similar to cotton.

This is an EXACT U.S. Army ACU Patrol Cap (styled after Civil War “Forage Cap” that was large enough to collect food while on the march with say a Sherman “flying column”) with thick brim and map pocket in the inside top made in rip-stop lightweight Multi-Cam material. Velcro ehh, I meant “Hook & Loop”…soft side velcro is on the back of the cap for your nametape. This will make your Multi-Cam ACUs a complete uniform to satisfy the most nit-picking of garrison uniform tyrant.

This is the Multi-Cam Patrol Cap U.S. military personnel need to make a complete uniform to offer effective camouflage in overseas combat zones or air soft and paintballers that need to be invisible during their tactical events.

BEWARE! THE PROPPER MULTI-CAM PATROL CAPS ARE DEFECTIVE: THEY ARE MADE OF GREEN-COLORED, NON-RIP-STOP, FABRIC THAT DOES NOT MATCH MULTI-CAM ACU-STYLE UNIFORMS MADE OF LIGHT GREEN/TAN DOMINANT, MULTI-CAM RIP-STOP FABRIC

Returns not allowed since these are clothing items that rest against the skin.

Does the army give you clothing money when you live on base?

Posted by admin on August 21st, 2010 and filed under army clothing | 7 Comments »

Not to buy uniforms but to buy like basic clothing? Shorts, t shirts, ect…

lol, Your base pay is to do what you want with it. Pay bills or take a friend out. Now the Army will give you a "clothing allowance", this is given to you every year on your anniversary (day you joined the army) This money is for new uniforms, boots and the upkeep of your uniform. So don’t blow the money, buy at least one pair of ACU’s, boots, and keep your Class As on point. This isn’t for civilian gear! At any point later in the year, you have an issue with your uniform, you can’t use insufficient funds as an excuse cause the Army has already paid you. So use it wisely. And you don’t have to live on post to get it, all soldiers receive this. What I always do, is put the money into my savings and when I need new clothing, it’s always there. Now if if you want to know how much you’ll get, I’ll need your rank and time in service. Hope this helps

LTTE thrashed by Sri Lanka Army & child slave saved

Posted by admin on August 13th, 2010 and filed under army clothing | 15 Comments »

The heroic armed forces of Sri Lanka are beating the daylights out of the cowardly terrorist outfit LTTE & saving innocent children enslaved by them.

The Sri Lanka Army is all volunteer, while the LTTE is all forcibly conscripted & child soldiers who should be in primary school.

The dirty rats of LTTE GIVE THEIR FAMILIES A GRAND LIFESTYLE IN WESTERN COUNTRIES SUCH AS NORWAY, DENMARK, CANADA, UK & AUSTRALIA. in stark contrast the poor peasant Tamil child soldiers are uneducated, malnourished, half nude & barefeet.

these countries whose politicians are blackmailed by tamil LTTE are the biggest sponsors of world terrorism, while they lecture UN & world heritage recognized countries like sri lanka on human rights.

The cowardly tamil diasphora call child soldiers MAHAVEERS & encourage sending them as cannon fodder to the frontline blindfolded, where they are left to fend for themselves mercilessly. this cowardly diasphora extort money, scam credit cards, sell drugs & misuse these funds for their own selfish benefit.

if the billions of black money is utilised well how come child soldiers are malnourished & barefeet wearing tattered clothing like sudanese beggars?

The beggars in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka are better dressed than the LTTE Tamil child heroes.

the child soldier shown in the video was found wearing dirty clothes like a pig. the sri lanka army attired her in respectable clothes.

Can you return clothing at salvation army?

Posted by admin on August 9th, 2010 and filed under army clothing | 1 Comment »

Bought a bcbg sweater, don’t like it.. i have the receipt and everything i’m just not sure if they’ll take it back…

My local S.A. store has this policy—so long as the little plastic tag (that they put on) is still on, and it’s within one week. (And the receipt, of course). But instead of cash back, you can get something else for exchange.
