Are they allowed to customize their rifles or buy their own handguns, and knives and what not? Or do they have to use whats issued to them?
If no then why are guns and accessories (Hi-cap mags, etc.) commonly sold for "military use"?
How can someone buy "military use only" gear if their not in the military? You don’t know what you’re talking about do you?
There are restrictions on certain things (Hi-Cap mags, certain weapons, etc.) that you need a military ID to purchase…Duh.
Rifle sights are a bit iffy, it’d depend on your unit’s policies. Nothing permanent, of course.
Personal firearms? Big no no.
Knives? Utilitarian clasp knives and Swiss Armies Knives (boy, do I love ‘em!) would be alright, but if you attached a big combat knife to your webbing you’d be told to take it off.
Guns and magazines sold for "military/police" use only – usually, this means that only a military as a whole can buy them. For instance, FN Herstal will only sell their Five-Seven pistol to a police force or military’s armories, but not to members of a police of military in particular.
Some items can be bought by military/police members individually, but it’s often only special forces who’ll be allowed to use them on the job.
Good quality, not rediculously priced.
Im looking to buy a nice Ka Bar or SP knife and some other interestng gear

My son was walking home down a main st in mission viejo, ca after an air-soft game. His gun was in a guitar caeie, a soft one. Without even brandishing the weapon, the mv police came up behind him with thier wepons drawn. Were thier actions justifiable and is walking down the street with military gear with a guitar illigal?
Depends on the police report if there is any. If they saw the air soft gun and there reasonably believed that it was a real gun (I’m not sure about your son’s but they can look very real,) or someone phoned describing your son and said that this person believed he/she saw your son with the gun then yes they had the right to do draw their weapon without question. It would be reasonable to assume that your son was armed, your son was wearing military attire which, not to profile or anything, usually means some sort of training. Either official military training or backwoods anti-government militia training and therefore a very good chance being a very good shot. With their years on the force when they see a guitar case they could probably tell that what was in the case wasn’t a guitar even if they couldn’t tell that it was an air soft gun.
All that said the reason they didn’t shoot is because your son is because he didn’t draw the gun on them, if the police wait long enough to draw their weapon until the other guy draws theirs then they could be dead. Obviously you aren’t asking if a shooting is justifiable so your son cooperated and you aren’t asking if any of these charges are justifiable so your son was probably let go after the whole thing was explained. So to say is it illegal to walk down a street in military gear with a guitar case no, but I can’t exactly see what you could do, you aren’t going to win a case for harassment unless they continue to do this multiple times, you don’t have a case for wrongful death/shooting because they only pulled guns and didn’t fire, and honestly if I was walking by in full military gear down a main street with a guitar case with something that wasn’t a guitar I’d hope that the police would ask me what was in it and If they thought it was a weapon I would hope they would protect themselves.
I wanna find stuff like night vision goggles and ghillie suits
also do i need any licence of any sort to buy this stuff
If you live in the UK, it specialises in the less specialist gear, but does it for the cheapest you’ll find.

g-day!
im leaving to Afghanistan on april 26 so i wanted some advice from people that have been there before. Of things to take with me
If you have a laptop take it. You can watch movies and some bases have internet that you can get in your room. Stock up on personal hygiene items because there isn’t much of a selection at the PX’s. A lot of people buy tv’s there and have somebody send them a game system.
I want a job that would develop like a new plane or a new gun or a new armour or something for the military. What job does this? Would engineering be good for this? What degree is best?
Cheers
mason
Military doesnt develop plans or armor etc etc etc. Private contractors do like lockheed martin, Boeing, etc etc etc. Military has the primary contract to these items so they primarly test and put their input on the gear but they wont change them themselves.
I’M IN MISSISSIPPI DO ANYBODY KNOW OF A GOOD WAY I CAN SELL ALL OF MY OLD MILITARY GEAR AND EQUIPMENT?
eBay went that-a-way

Wouldn’t it be easier to have everyone use the same gear? Helmets, masks, survival vests, G-suits, should all be able to be almost universal. If a crew doesn’t use an item, that item should just be taken off of the list for that plane.
Shades of McNamara…. Mostly they do use the same gear (expect Navy and USAF g-suits zipper from opposite directions), however some is aircraft specific because of fit or interface.
