Ways To Help

Save Vermont Ridgelines, Inc. is a non-profit volunteer organization that was formed to gather and share information about the PPM wind energy facility proposed in the Green Mountain National Forest in Searsburg and Readsboro, Vermont.  To that end, we have created a website, ClearSkyVt.org, to educate the public as to our findings.  We believe an industrial wind energy facility such as PPM Energy is proposing has no place on pristine mountain ridgelines on National Forest land.

To date, our group has conducted several mass informational mailings to nearby homeowners and business owners.  We have also placed several ads in our local newspaper which highlight different facts about the proposed project that the general public might not be aware of.  Many of our group’s members have written letters to our local newspapers, the Vermont Public Service Board, the US Forest Service, our elected officials, and conservation groups to voice our concerns about this project.  We regularly attend town board meetings and have petitioned to allow voters in affected towns to be able to vote on this issue.

Save Vermont Ridgelines, Inc. recently became an intervening party in the Vermont Public Service Board's Docket No. 7250 - Petition of Deerfield Wind LLC for a Certificate of Public Good.   We have retained expert legal counsel to represent us in these legal proceedings.  Large legal documents we receive must be professionally reproduced. Our group is now incorporated and we have filed for non-profit status. Both of these legal procedures involved quite a bit of time, effort and filing fees.

All of these efforts require commitment and a good deal of resources.  Your donation will help defray the costs we have already incurred, and will incur in the near future, for informational mailings, copying charges, filing fees, advertising costs and mounting legal fees. Any amount donated will help ease our financial burden of this important fight.

The Vermont Public Service Board needs to hear from as many people as possible that the proposed Searsburg/Readsboro project is not for pristine ridgelines in a National Forest.
